Joint Small Projects Fund for Cross-Border Cooperation Bulgaria-Turkey

The Central Finance and Contracts Unit on behalf of the Republic of Turkey is seeking proposals for the development of small scale, “people-to-people” and “soft” local development activities of a cross-border nature and the enhancement of the capability of local and regional authorities and other NGOs to develop and implement joint projects within the border regions Haskovo, Yambol and Burgas in Bulgaria and Edirne and Kırklareli in Turkey with financial assistance from the National Pre-Accession Financial Assistance Programme for Turkey 2006 programme of the European Communities.

Activities eligible under the JSPF involve the enhancement of the capability of local and regional authorities and other components of the democratic society (chambers of commerce, industry and agriculture, trade associations, trade unions, NGOs, schools and universities, etc.) to develop and implement joint projects within the border region, to overcome specific development problems of the border region and to remove existing disparities within the cross-border region, and in this way, to promote economic and social cohesion.

Although a Turkish version of the Guidelines is provided, please note that in the event of any contentious issues arising, it is the English text which is the legal reference. The deadline for submission of proposals is 14 April 2008, at 17:00 (local time).
