Integration of Sustainable Development into Sectoral Policies Project

“Integration of Sustainable Development into Sectoral Policies Project”, which is financed by European Union and implemented by United Nations Development Programme under the coordination of State Planning Organization, aims at contributing to the integration of Sustainable Development principles, as accepted in the implementation plan at the World Summit on Sustainable Development; consistent to the European Union 6 th Framework Action Plan, on a macro-economic and sectoral level to national and regional development plans. Project activities take place at three levels; policy, local and individual level.

At policy level one of the main activities is related with the indicators due to the fact that, the 1992 Earth Summit recognized the important role that indicators in helping countries to make informed decisions concerning sustainable development. In this regard, as a part of the project activities, following a preliminary evaluation of the existing indicators, a clear relationship between sectoral developments and sustainability is to be developed and tested. In the light of this study, core set of Sustainable Development monitoring indicators are to be developed.
